If you are looking for a delicious, anti-inflammatory drink to keep you energized and on track, this Blended Citrus Juice with Ginger and Turmeric is right up your alley! This juice is full of tart citrus and vivacious spices that work together in harmony for a sensational sipping session!

You will need a blender for this recipe and it won’t take you more than 5 or 10 minutes to prepare.  You will need 3 peeled Satsumas to start.  Satsu-what?? You may be wondering what Satsumas are since it’s not a word you see every day!  Satsumas are a fruit very similar to an orange, tangerine or mandarin.  It is a type of seedless mandarin orange with thin skin.  The name “satsuma” is credited to the wife of a United States minister to Japan, General Van Valkenberg, who sent trees home in the 1870’s from Satsuma, where Satsumas believed to have originated.

If you can not find any satsumas or they are not in season in your area, don’t fret.  You can use regular small oranges.   Next you will need 1 small lemon, 1 small lime, 1 inch piece of fresh ginger cut into slices, ½ tsp of ground turmeric (or fresh turmeric if you can find it), 1 ½ tablespoons of honey (we recommend local, raw honey) a pinch of sea salt, ½ cup of filtered water and ice cubes. Use organic ingredients whenever possible.  Add all of these ingredients into your blender and blend away!  Healthy Human Tip: Try searching international markets that specialize in Indian or Israeli cuisine for less expensive spices like turmeric and ginger.

After about a minute of blending, check your juice to see if any large pieces of ginger or citrus remain.  If they are still there, blend again until they are dissolved. If they don’t completely dissolve you can always pour your juice over a strainer or sieve later.   Give it a taste and see if it needs more honey or sea salt.  Go with what tastes good.  It is all based on your personal preferences! Once you are satisfied with your magical mix, pour it over ice and #takeitwithu! We are pouring our Citrus Juices into our Healthy Human Classic Rover Pints.

Your juice will be a nice, bright yellow color.  Doesn’t it just look so divine!? This color mainly comes from the ginger and turmeric.  Both of these roots have incredible health benefits.  We talk more about turmeric in our Golden Milk recipe!

Aside from the ginger and turmeric, citrus fruits like lemons, limes and satsumas also all play a big role in health and wellness!! Most citrus fruits are high in vitamin C and flavonoids, which are antioxidants that fight free radicals (the bad guys). The vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron in foods.
