Coconut Turmeric Smoothie

So much greatness in one cup! This Coconut Turmeric Smoothie is a wonderful, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying beverage that you are going to feel so good about while sipping away.  With the combination of coconut, pineapple and banana you might even feel like you’re on a beach somewhere staring off into some ocean waves ? One can dream! ?


You will need a blender for this recipe.  You can use a single-serving type of blender like a NutriBullet or you can whip out your full-sized blender if you are sharing, or would like to make a few servings for later.   We are adding the age-old bright yellow spice called turmeric in this recipe. Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory spice originating in many parts of India for decades.  The secret to best absorption of this spice is combining it with a healthy fat.  This is why we add in 1 Tbs of coconut oil.  You can add in a little more if you choose also.   You will also add in 1 cup of hemp or coconut milk, ½ cup frozen pineapple, 1 frozen banana, ½ tsp turmeric (can be increased to 1tsp if you enjoy the taste), ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ½ tsp ginger and 1tsp chia seeds.  Organic is best.

Chia gels up and expands when submersed in liquid, and in this state, the seeds naturally catch unwanted gunk lurking around and aid it in exiting your body efficiently. Everything in this awesome Coconut Turmeric Smoothie has a purpose. To better your body!   Cinnamon and ginger not only taste great but have natural anti-inflammatory properties.   Pineapple isn’t just to remind you of the tropics, it is also great for digestion and inflammation.  If you choose hemp milk, it is a great source of iron and a nutrient dense plant-based milk.  It will taste a bit on the earthy side, so if you aren’t feeling that, try the coconut milk instead! If you don’t love either milk, you can always try almond milk, cashew milk or even rice milk. The consistency might change but the flavor will still be great! Organic options are best when possible.

1 cup hemp or coconut milk

1/2 cup frozen pineapple

1 frozen banana

1 Tbsp coconut oil

1/2 tsp turmeric (can be increased to 1 tsp)

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ginger

1 tsp chia seeds



Blend all ingredients in a NutriBullet or other blender.
