7 Must-Have Items For Your Next Outdoor Adventure

What’s on your to-do list as the weather warms up and people start spending more time outside? Hiking at a local or national park, perhaps? Canoeing at the lake? Whatever your favorite outdoor activity is, you’ll want to make sure you’re prepared so that your day is safe and fun. Here are seven must-have items for your next outdoor adventure.

1. Stein water bottle

Staying hydrated is always important, but even more so when you’re doing physical activity and spending time in the sun. Bringing a water bottle ensures you have water on hand so you don’t go thirsty. Look for a water bottle that’s lightweight enough that you don’t mind carrying it, yet big enough to hold as much water as you’d like to have with you. It’s also helpful to find a water bottle that can keep your water cold (no one wants to drink hot water after a hot day outside!) and that is easy to carry.

Healthy Human’s Stein Bottlesare made with 18/8 stainless steel and a Temp-Max Double-Walled Vacuum Insulation design to keep cold drinks for 24 hours. They’re lightweight and feature a sweat-free design so you don’t have to worry about your bottle dripping on your shirt. Each bottle has a lid with a handle and a carabiner, making it easy to carry or attach to a backpack. You can also buy a Flip N Sip Lid for smaller sips of water, and a  Water Bottle Take Me with U Sling for hands-free carrying. Our Stein Bottles are available in 16-oz, 21-oz, and 32-oz sizes and a wide range of colors and patterns.

2. Travel Pet Bento Bowls

Is your favorite four-legged friend joining on your adventure? Make sure you’ve got water on hand for them, too!Our Travel Pet Bento Bowls feature two, three, or four interlocking bowls that are perfect for carrying water, food, and other necessities. The top bowl is a leak-proof compartment that holds up to 16 ounces of water. It’s vacuum-sealed and made with a quick-release top to keep water in its place until you need it. The other compartments hold up to 20 ounces of dry food or treats, or can be used to tote poop bags, leashes, small toys, and more. Our Travel Pet Bento Bowls are made with 18/8 stainless steel that’s pet-safe and easy to clean. They’re the perfect size for small- to medium-size dogs, but cats can use them too!

3. First-aid supplies

Whether you’re just going on a short hike at a metro park or camping at a national park, it never hurts to be prepared for cuts, scrapes, or other light injuries, just in case. Before you head outdoors, pack a first aid kit to take with you. Consider bringing items like adhesive bandages as well as antiseptic wipes and antibacterial ointment to help keep the wound clean. Anti-itch treatment is great to have in case you get bitten or stung by an insect, and pain relief medication can help ease pain from injuries or extremely sore and achy muscles. Tweezers are also smart to have on hand in case you get pricked by a thorn or bitten by a tick. You’ll likely want to bring more items depending on where you’re going and what your outdoor activities include, but these are good starter items.

4. Comfortable shoes

When you’re spending lots of time on your feet, you want to be comfortable. Make sure to wear shoes that fit correctly and are designed for your specific outdoor activity. If you’ll be doing lots of walking, make sure your shoes aren’t too big, but still leave a little room at the toes. Going hiking? Bring hiking shoes or hiking boots, as these provide more support for your feet and traction on uneven terrain than regular tennis shoes. If you’re going canoeing, spending time in the ocean, or adventuring near other areas of water, water shoes are helpful to have. Their design allows water to drain from the shoe and the sole offers traction on slippery surfaces.

5. On the Go Bento Lunch Box

Outdoor activities can be physically demanding, so it’s important to keep your energy up. Our On The Go Bento Lunch Box is the perfect container for bringing a light lunch or healthy snacks with you. This stainless steel lunch box features two bowls to keep food separated and save you the hassle of having to pack multiple containers. The lid is leak-resistant to keep food fresh, and the lunch box is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning when you get home. With a reusable lunch box, you’re also preventing trash like paper plates and plastic wrap from ending up in a landfill or littering a park.

6. Comfortable clothes

When spending time outside, you don’t want to be too hot or too cold. Being comfortable can take some planning, however, since the temperature may change noticeably from morning to mid-day to night. Make sure you have clothes that will keep you comfortable no matter the weather. Consider dressing in layers so that you can add or remove clothing if you’re too hot or too cold. Wear pants that are comfortable to move around in and aren’t restricting. Consider wearing performance shirts made from synthetic materials that wick away moisture to help keep you feeling dry and comfortable.

7. Sun protection

Spending time in the sun can be brutal, especially during the summer. If you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors, be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen with you so you can reapply as needed and avoid painful sunburns. Wearing sunglasses and a hat are also important for protecting your eyes from the sun.
