Tis the season for pumpkin everythaang!  Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cheesecakes! While everything pumpkin is pretty delicious, this pumpkin pie smoothie is actually good for you too! That’s a win-win in our book.  This pumpkin smoothie wraps up everything you love about fall and drops it into a blender! Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and pumpkin puree all do not fail to disappoint in this quick and easy recipe.  As the star of the show, pumpkin is full of Vitamins A, C, E, and K, and it also delivers pretty good amounts of iron, magnesium, potassium, and manganese. The other ingredients add even more nutrients, plus a hefty dose of good fats in those avocados and almond or pecan milk. This is one treat you can honestly feel good about!

If you do not tolerate dairy well (not everyone does), this smoothie uses non-dairy milk that still gives it a great texture.  For a sweet taste, 2-4 tablespoons of maple syrup is added.   Maple syrup is a great alternative to processed sugars and actually has some much appreciated vitamins and minerals to boot! For best taste, use pure maple syrup, not “breakfast syrup” which is mostly high fructose corn syrup rather than actual maple syrup.  Yuck!  For the pumpkin puree, try going for an organic brand that is just 100% pure pumpkin, with no added sweeteners or preservatives.

Before you get all excited and break out the blender, make sure you have two frozen bananas chilled and ready to go.   This will be the base of the smoothie recipe. You likely won’t taste the actual banana, but it will give the pumpkin pie smoothie a nice smooth, creamy base. The avocado also adds to that creaminess.  Since you are only using half of the avocado, think of something else you can use it for too before it goes bad, like a side of guac or on top of a healthy veggie-loaded salad! (Why do avocados have to brown so quickly!? The struggle is real!)

The recipe calls for 2 cups of ice, but you can add or take away as much ice as you want, depending on your smoothie preferences.  More ice equals a thicker smoothie, while having less ice makes a thinner beverage.  Totally your choice!

In this sweet vid, we feature our 20 oz. Healthy Human Cruiser in natural wood and orange sherbert.  We also feature Vital Proteins grass-fed, pasture-raised collagen peptides to our pumpkin pie smoothie.  It might sound weird adding collagen to a beverage, but it’s actually an excellent decision.  Collagen peptides contain the same amino acids you find in your skin, nails, hair, bones and joints. You know, the stuff that gives you great skin and shiny, luscious locks!  Think of it like a glowing skin secret weapon!

This drinkable pumpkin pie is pretty delicious on its own, but if you are up for pairing it with a snack or breakfast option, we think it would go great with our apple cinnamon overnight oats!
